THAILAND. A number of WO personnel have been affected by the closure of both airports in Bangkok this week. David Boyd and the team who went to Cambodia with Lorraine Dierck last weekend are still stuck in Thailand, feeling a bit demoralized and confused. Our Malaysian director, Mun Heng & son are needing to make other travel arrangements back home from India as too are some of the participants at our 5 day ‘orientation into WO’ held in S’pore this week. Lorraine says, “the situation in Bangkok is very tense, with some schools and offices closed for fear of violence in the streets. There seems to be a total news blackout, no-one knows what's going on. Please pray for us!” Please pray for Thailand, that law & order will return, the spirit of anarchy be bound, and that the Holy Spirit will turn around what seems an absolute tragedy for this nation, into something that will turn the nation to God.
INDONESIA. Please pray for Jason & Anne & daughter Angelika who are new personnel serving on one of the eastern islands in this nation. They are experiencing all sorts of challenges / struggles including prolonged ill health that is leaving them feeling very weary both physically and spiritually. Pray that the Holy Spirit will touch each of their bodies / lives with his healing power. Thank you.
Pray too for Sarah, daughter of Roger & Vivienne Latham (Darwin) who joined Jason & Anne for a month. Sarah has just been diagnosed as having contracted dengue fever, a form of malaria. Pray that the Lord will deliver and set her free from this sickness.
INDIA. The present crisis in Mumbai (formerly Bombay) continues with fighting still happening and the welfare and whereabouts of a number of hostages still unknown. The situation is extremely serious with close to 200 already dead as a result of the terrorist attacks. Tension between Asia’s two nuclear powers, India and Pakistan are also very tense. JESUS is the ANSWER! Please pray that the crisis in Mumbai will be resolved quickly and that people will turn to and find the true Prince of Peace.
MOZAMBIQUE. Please pray for Graeme & Lucy Fawcett and team who are presently in northern Mozambique doing a follow up visit and training among the Koti people group. Pray that their visit will be a powerful blessing to the very new believers there (more than 200 churches have been planted) and that all involved will know good health, favour & protection.
THAILAND. Val Bateup, WO missionary in Bangkok writes: “I thought you'd be interested in an update on John and Nok, former Good News team members. In the church where they pastor, they've seen amazing growth in the last few months . Many young men have been receiving Christ every week. Most of them come from Buddhist backgrounds, and John is kept busy teaching them what it means to follow Christ. Re John's health, its now over two years since he was diagnosed with leukaemia (at which time the doctors told him he wouldn't last even two years)! He appreciates all the prayers he's had, and asks could you please keep praying for his total healing.”
Please uphold John in prayer, and also Nola (NZ) & Gerard (Australia) who are all believing the Lord for healing from cancer, and Charles (S’pore) from motor-neuron disease.
